Insects

Generally speaking, I only photograph an insect if I think I stand a good chance of identifying it later or it is doing something fascinating, and insects are endlessly fascinating. However, the world is full of nondescript little black bugs that you have to either look at under a microscope or actually dissect. That’s more than I care to do.

Quick Notes:

Beetles

There are tens of thousands of species of beetles. In general, I only photograph those I am fairly confident I can identify-at least to the genus level.

Z

Moths

There is a heavy emphasis on Sphinx moths because they’re just so much fun to photograph.

Z

Various Insects

Bees, flies, wasps, mantids, whatever doesn’t fit anywhere else. You just have to browse.
